Celebrating our Hosts and their Favorites from VM

What are your grocery must-haves? Whether it’s a specific brand of bread you’ve been buying for the last 10 years or a certain type of ice cream you can’t get enough of, most of us have pantry staples that we rarely go without.

Recently, we at Vintage Meadows have been focusing on highlighting and honoring our Chicago suburb pickup location hosts. Each pickup location around the greater Chicago area is hosted by an individual or family at their personal home or business. They make sure their spaces are clean, organized, and easy-to-navigate, and they also provide personal support during pickup hours. They make themselves available to help with lost product, order confusion, and any other issues that may arise. After the day’s orders are picked up, the host tidies the space in preparation for the next delivery. Our hosts make our Chicago delivery routes possible!

We reached out to our hosts and asked them what their Vintage Meadows freezer staples are. Which products make it in their carts every week?

Peggy, the host at Streamwood, IL, shared, “We love all of your products, but one of our favorites is the Farmer’s Favorite sausage. It has the perfect balance of seasonings and is so versatile. We especially love it in sausage, potato and kale soup.” Peggy and her husband have been hosts at Streamwood for years, and we are so thankful for the effort they put into serving our Streamwood customers! Peggy’s recipe for the sausage, potato, kale soup is below:

Our longtime host at Logan Square, Jenny, and her family have a few staples, including our sweet cream and Italian bulk sausage.

“We really love the cream as it is the base of so many Indian dishes we make and also the Italian sausage for the sourdough pizza we make every Friday for the last 7 years. Now that’s a lot of pizza and sausage. :)”

Italian sausage pizza on Friday nights for 7 years certainly makes that a VM staple for Jenny’s family! Try a recipe to make your own sourdough Italian sausage pizza here!

Dina and her family at Downers Grove love seeing and meeting their “regulars” every other week on pickup days. “We believe in whole, nutrient foods as nourishment and medicine and Vintage Meadows provides the best quality for our family of six, and we couldn’t be more grateful. We love doing what we can to help this community of food-passionate folks and their families.” Thank you, Dina, for everything you do to contribute to Vintage Meadows!

Dina mentioned a variety of VM products that they can’t get enough of:

“We love making beef tongue tacos, braised beef cheeks, and lots of slow cooked comforting foods with all the meats available from the farm. With the whole cow ground beef, we love making smash burgers outside for the whole family, especially during the summer months. And the eggs! We can’t get enough. We go through at least 4 dozen eggs every week.”

That’s a week’s worth of dinners right there: beef tongue tacos, braised beef cheeks, smashburgers, and eggs!
