Cow Milk
We offer unpasteurized, unhomogenized cow milk, and other milk products, such as cream, sour cream, yogurt, kefir, butter, and more! Certified A2/A2 Jersey cows at Forest Grove Dairy are grass-fed and graze organically grown pastures during spring, summer, and fall months and receive hay and a small amount of organic corn in winter, with access to salt, kelp, mineral mix, and probiotics.
Dairy Cleanliness
Vintage Meadows milk, from Forest Grove Dairy in Middlebury, IN, is of the highest quality. Not only does the dairy farmer practice the highest levels of cleanliness, milk from sick animals (which rarely happens) is never sold. The following paragraph describes the milking process:
The cows are gathered from the pastures into the barn where they wait their turn to enter their favorite stall to be milked (it's funny but some very patiently wait for their favorites). Their udders are washed and the milking cups are placed on their udders. The milk passes through a stainless steel, sealed pipeline, through a 'plate cooler' that rapidly chills it, until it ends up in a stainless steel tank. The milk is agitated every few minutes to maintain even cooling. The milk then gravity flows to the jugs that are filled, capped, and placed on carts in the walk-in cooler to be distributed. The sealed pipeline is flushed and cleaned after every milking and the milk itself is tested every other week and all the pertinent bacteria counts are recorded. The barn is washed every day. This amazing level of cleanliness, in addition to the health of the cows (which starts with the health of the pastures), is what allows our milk to remain fresh for several weeks unopened in the refrigerator!

Goat Milk
Available goat milk products include milk, yogurt, and other items made from unpasteurized, unhomogenized goat milk. Our mild-tasting goat milk comes from two very small local goat dairies, in Middlebury and Shipshewana, IN.
Saanen and Alpine goats primarily eat organically grown grass/hay and a small amount of organic, non-GMO grains. Baby goats stay with their mama for at least six weeks before being placed in a separate pasture pen with the other kids. At six weeks old they are voluntarily and independently eating grass, hay, and grains. Both farms are closed herds, meaning they are not buying random goats from outside their farms, and neither farm uses antibiotics or vaccines.
Sheep Milk
Healthy, grass fed, East Friesen ewes at Bloomville Farm (Middlebury, IN) graze on untreated pastures during the spring, summer, and fall. During the winter, they are fed organically grown hay. The sheep are rewarded each day with a small portion of organic grain (corn + roasted soybeans) during milking to maintain adequate energy levels. Sheep milk is unpasteurized and unhomogenized. Our half-gallon jugs come frozen; sheep milk retains its original flavor and texture when frozen and thawed.
Cheese
Delicious fresh cow cheese is crafted using unpasteurized, unhomogenized milk from vaccine-free, antibiotic-free, grass-fed cows at Pine Meadows Dairy.
Fresh goat cheese is crafted using unpasteurized, unhomogenized milk from vaccine-free, antibiotic-free goats at Rolling Meadows Farm. They are fed a small amount of organic, non-GMO, soy-free grain, and have free choice pasture and hay.
Other available goat cheeses come from Lykens Valley Creamery in Millersburg, PA.
Sheep cheddar is from Bloomville Farm.
