Top 10 Value Products from Vintage Meadows

Buying every single ingredient for a delicious, nutritious dinner can get really expensive, especially when you’re doing your best to buy organic, ethically produced, whole foods. We know that an order can quickly add up to more than you planned on spending! To help with this problem, we’ve compiled this handy list of our top 10 value products.

Products between $4 and $6 per pound:

1. BEEF BONES

Do you use bone broth on a regular basis? Did you know that it is very simple to make your own? 2-3 lbs of beef bones will yield between 7-10 pints of nutrious bone broth. At $4/lb, beef bones are a great way to save a few dollars.

2. CHICKEN DRUMSTICKS

Our most economically-priced cut of chicken comes in 1.4 lb packages with 4-5 drumsticks per pack. If not all drumsticks are eaten, they can be deboned and the leftover meat used in another meal. We currently have a 15 lb drumstick bundle available, saving you approximately $0.50/lb.

3. TURKEY WINGS

A turkey wing has two sections - and you may be surprised at how much meat each section has! Turkey wings would have more white meat on them than drumsticks. This is a great source of meat that can be prepared, deboned, and then cooked in other meals!

4. WHOLE TURKEYS

Priced at $6/lb, you’ll end up paying just under $100 dollars for a 15 lb bird. However, consider all of the meat you would be able to save and store (canned or frozen)! Our turkeys have all their organs intact, as well as the neck. Turkeys aren’t just for Thanksgiving!

Products between $6 and $10 per pound:

5. WHOLE CHICKENS

A less intimidating whole bird (4 lbs, compared to a 15 lb turkey!), a whole chicken is a great way to maximize your dollars. Our family of five typically gets two meals out of a whole chicken: 1. Roasted whole bird with vegetables, and 2. Some type of dish made with the leftover chicken, such as creamy chicken pasta, homemade chicken salad sandwiches, or white chicken chili.

6. GROUND BEEF

It’s hard to beat our ground beef. And we think hand-formed burgers are better (and cheaper!) than patties! Ground beef is the most versatile meat product we have.

7. PORK LARD

Looking for a healthy and affordable cooking oil? Look no further! Pork lard (~2 lbs for $8) can be used for pan grease when you’re cooking on a stovetop; pork lard can season cast-iron pans, and it can even be a partial replacement for butter, vegetable shortening, or margarine in baking. I say partial, because replacing ALL the butter in your cookies with lard may make them unrecognizable. But replacing a third to half of it with lard? Totally doable and delicious!

8. LARGE PORK SHOULDER ROAST “BOSTON BUTT ROAST”

Expect to pay between $50-$70 for one of these 7.5 lb pork shoulder roasts. But think of how much food could be prepared, or stored, with 7.5 lbs of pork! Meal ideas include crockpot Boston butt roast with roasted veggies, carnitas, pulled pork sandwiches, pork roast stew, and more!

Products between $10 and $11 per pound:

9. CHOPPED BACON

If you love adding bacon to salads, omelettes, and other dishes, but don’t love the price tag of our regular bacon (or the effort of chopping it up), try our chopped bacon! This product is the result of our efforts to not throw away useful by-products. Buy these pre-chopped bacon ends and save a couple bucks (and your wrists!).

10. CHUCK ARM ROAST

Delicious and flavorful, a beef roast is always a good idea. The chuck arm roast is a three pound roast which will provide the meat for multiple meals! Let this roast cook in the crockpot all day long, yielding a tender, fall-apart beef that can be served alone with a side of vegetables or used in beef-n-noodles, hearty beef vegetable stew, roast beef sandwiches, shredded beef barbecue, or Mexican-style shredded beef tacos.

Two bonus value products!

11. BULK EGGS

One way to save is to buy eggs in bulk. We offer both regular and soy-free eggs in bulk (15 doz.)

10. BULK RUSSET POTATOES

LIMITED TIME!!! Get 20 lbs of of Russet potatoes for only $20.50!
